Making the Most of Crisp Fall Days

Work. Errands. Hustling your kids (or yourself!) to your next To Do item.

With all that busyness, it’s easy for the fall season to slip away, missing all the wonderful sights and smells of the cooler season. To honor some of our national favorite experiences, we’ve put together a list of five amazing ways to make the most out of this autumn season.

1. Pumpkin – Everything. Everywhere.

Pumpkin is the iconic autumn fruit (yes, fruit!) with an impressive nutrient profile. It’s rich in beta-carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A. It’s also full of antioxidants and can boost your immunity.

You don’t have to go to mainstream coffee shops to enjoy the smell or taste of pumpkin spice. From baking your own treats to perusing your local farmers market, be sure to load up on all things pumpkin. Just check those labels and pay close attention to the sugar content, choosing the most healthy options with actual pumpkin in them. 😊

2. Jump in a Pile of Leaves

You may think diving into a pile of leaves is just for kids, but adults can also benefit from the experience. Raking leaves into a huge jump-worthy pile not only provides good exercise and a cleaner yard, but it also engages your senses – something we can all use more of in this digital world. Plus, the fresh air and laughter will do wonders for your stress levels.

3. Do a Soup Swap

What’s more comforting on a cold, blustery day than a piping hot bowl of soup? Share that same feeling with your family or friends by doing a soup swap. Ask others to make their favorite soup recipe and divide it out into single-serve containers. Then, get together, and exchange your different soups. It’s a wonderful way to begin a new tradition and introduce a little variety!

4. Get Into Nature

The best part of getting outside during fall is that the season surrounds you. Whether you’re strolling in the park or walking down the street, you have the opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of the changing season happening all around you. Make it a point to get out often for some exercise and bask in the beauty of this season. And if you’re feeling extra artsy, grab your camera and snap some photos!

5. Diffuse Fall-Scented Oils

Bring the magic of fall right into your home with fall-themed essential oil blends. Here are three must-make blends that’ll get your home smelling like autumn in no time:

  • Pumpkin Spice: 5 drops of cinnamon, 1 drop of nutmeg, 1 drop of clove
  • Spicy Orange: 5 drops of orange, 1 drop of cinnamon, 1 drop of nutmeg, 1 drop of clove
  • Cider: 4 drops of orange, 3 drops of cinnamon, 3 drops of ginger

Or create your own! Many fall-themed essential oil blends use a combination of cinnamon, orange, clove, or ginger. Play around with the number of drops until you find your perfect autumnal blend.

Enjoy Fall to the Fullest

As we inch our way closer to the holidays and the New Year, life gets even more hectic. Take some time to slow down and soak in this season before it slips away. Try out these fall-themed ideas to help you recenter and enjoy everything this season has to offer.
